More Than Just a BankJordan Kuwait Bank (JKB) was founded in 1976 and has successfully evolved in to a medium sized player in the Jordanian banking system over the last few years. The Bank practices a wide array of commercial banking activities inside Jordan and abroad, and currently operates a domestic network of 45 branches and offices distributed throughout Jordan. The Bank maintains two branches in both Nablis and Ram Allah in Palestine and an international banking unit (IBU) in Cyprus. JKB was the first bank in Jordan to launch Internet banking and many other electronic delivery channels. The technology awareness and its varied applications make this bank at par with any other European or American bank of its size. JKB’s Management is well-regarded and clear business strategies are in place aimed at further enhancing the Bank’s position within the local market. Profitability has significantly improved in recent years producing some of the highest returns in the local market. JKB’s financial strength rating is set to BBB+ reflecting the Bank’s improving financial ratios. JKB capitalizes on its strong business and ownership relations with sister banks in Kuwait and the Gulf, also on the services of its subsidiaries in Jordan; the Arab Orient Insurance Company & the United Financial Investments Company. This is another step toward the bank's overall vision, which is to establish Jordan's first “Universal Bank” and provide services that encompass investment banking, brokerage, and insurance, in addition to commercial banking thus giving the Bank a competitive edge over the other main-street retail banks. Though it offers substantial retail products, the Bank’s biggest foothold and focus continues to be on corporate banking. Recently, Jordan Kuwait Bank was awarded “Best Bank in Jordan 2005” Award and World’s Best Internet Bank Award by the famous international “Global Finance Magazine”. |
